FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 19, 2009
BOULDER, Colo. – The Ultimate Players Association, the National Governing Body for the sport of Ultimate in the United States, today announced the official seeds/pools and competition schedules for the 2009 UPA Club Championships, to be held from Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Sarasota, Fla.
A culmination of 93 qualifying series events held throughout the nation, the Club Championships will feature Ultimate’s best adult teams competing in four divisions: Masters, Mixed, Open and Women’s. Only two out of the four returning champions earned top seeds this year – Surly (Twin Cities, Minn.) in the Masters Division and Mental Toss Flycoons (Missoula, Mt.) in the Mixed Division.
“Once the teams have qualified for Sarasota, the announcement of the seeds and schedules signals an exciting two-week build-up to the Club Championships,” said UPA Managing Director, Competition & Athlete Programs Will Deaver (Boulder, Colo.). “We again have an outstanding field in each division this year, and the event is shaping up to be our most competitive to date.”
